What happened here

Alabama's congressional map was thrown out by the Supreme Court — twice. The state kept drawing one majority-Black district out of seven, even though Black voters make up 27% of the population. The Court said that math didn't add up. Now it's your turn. Draw the lines. See if you can do better. Or worse. We're not judging.

What Alabama Actually Drew
Alabama's legislature drew 1 majority-Democrat district (District 7, a majority-Black seat) and 6 majority-Republican districts. The Supreme Court struck it down twice under the Voting Rights Act — Black voters make up 27% of the population but had decisive power in only 1 of 7 seats, or 14%. A court-ordered remedial map in 2023 created a second district where Black voters have substantial influence. The state legislature still fought it.
